Aim is a combat skill valuable to any character that wants to increase their accuracy with ranged weapons (be it a bow, throwing weapons or a polearm that hits from distance). Archers and their prestige classes are the primary source of Aim skill.

Usage

Aim is a passive skill that determines the accuracy of ranged attacks.

Any attack which occurs at range must first complete an "Aim Check" at a difficulty based on the distance between the targets.

  • Aim works with any weapon that hits from distance. The magical property Use Best Weapon Skill does not apply to Aim.

Ranged weapons which succeed at an aim check will not have their chance to hit reduced by melee skill of their target, however melee weapons attacking at range are still affected.

Formula

%Chance = Aim Skill / (1 + (20 * Distance) -20)

20 Aim skill has 95% chance of hitting a target 2 tiles away. 80 Aim skill has 99% chance of hitting a target 5 tiles away.

Differences from Ultima Online

  • In the original Ultima Online, the Aim skill was called "Archery".
