Guide to Magery
written by Ancell
Stepping into a new spell system can be confusing and frustrating, so here is some tips and explanations to hopefully help you out.
- Lvl 1 mage- youre going to have one spell slot at first, and little mana. I suggest using hirelings to gain your first few levels.
Commands you should know:
]wizardgump will bring up your known spells
]memorizegump will bring up slots you can memorize spells in, simply click the slot you want the spell in,then click a tome! Alternately you can click a tome, and it will bring up the memorize gump for you.
Alternately you can click and drag the magery, and meditation skills, to bring up a gem for these gumps as well! The more mana you put into a spell, the more it builds in radius, damage, duration...You get the picture. Your magery skill dictates how much mana you can put into your spell. Until lvl 5 you will only be able to cast spells at the minimum cost.
Your meditation is passive, and based on your nutrition, med skill, and intelligence. Peaches(zinc) give your mana regen a boost. Limes (magnesium) give your cast speed a boost.
- Lvl 5 mage- You've made it to your first rank, way to go slugger!
You now have two more spell slots(and will get two with every level of pure mage), and the ability to channel mana! Allowing you to charge your spells as much as your knowledge(magery) will let you. This also allows you to share your mana with other players! (done by clicking the blue arrow at the top of your wizardgump). At this point you might want to make some macros.
]wizardgump 1 will cast the spell in your first slot.
]wizardgump 2 will cast the second, and so on.
You might now want to look for a crafted Wand or Staff! The accuracy of the wand is based off of your Magery, and the damage is based off of Eval int, tactics, and your Intelligence.
Anyone can wield a wand or magic staff. But without magery, you're just wasting mana! The staff will tell you how much mana is used per swing, when you hover your mouse over it.
